This week's #artistinfocus is Katrin Fridriks. Head over to our instagram page to learn more about Katrin's life and work! 💥 Born in Iceland in 1974, Katrin Fridriks is known for exploring speed, gravity and the forces of nature through her abstract paintings. Inspired by the powerful natural structures of Iceland, such as volcanoes, geysers and glaciers, Fridriks' Icelandic roots sparked a curiosity in the energy of the four elements - air, fire, earth and water. Fridriks has since explored the work of Serbian scientist, Nikola Tesla and his idea for clean and free energy through her work. Energies and frequencies are brought to the viewer through swirling and explosive forms. The dynamism of form is propelled even further through Fridriks' energetic process of creation; carefully throwing paint onto the canvas, Fridriks undertakes a painterly process reminiscent of the abstract expressionist Jackson Pollock. Fridriks' paintings present a unique fusion of natural energies with abstract expressionism. We as the viewer, are urged to contemplate the relationship between humanity, technology and natural phenomena.
