JD Malat Gallery is thrilled to present a captivating new series of paintings by Icelandic artist Georg Oskar and British artist Georgia Dymock for Art Basel’s 11th edition of UNTITLED Art Fair, Miami Beach. Showcasing each artist’s unique and yet equally alluring response to the human body and its environment, JD Malat Gallery’s presentation at booth B36 offers a space for the diverse audience of Miami to reflect upon the interplay between selfhood, popular culture and the mundane activities of everyday life.

Showcasing artists with diverse forms of creative expressions who are balancing between the figurative, abstract and expressive, JD Malat Gallery seeks to establish their visions in the international art historical context. By displaying its innovative and insightful body of work to the cosmopolitan audience of Miami, JD Malat Gallery seeks to stimulate the continuous dialogue between art, artists and viewers across the world.

Georgia Dymock

At just twenty-four years of age, MFA Slade art student Georgia Dymock has been met with international success through exhibits in New York, London, Istanbul and Monaco. Dymock is recognised for her textured oil paintings that capture ambiguous anthropomorphically shaped subjects in imaginative worlds and landscapes inspired by our technological age. Employing her staple technique of transforming her manual sketches into digital software and later transferring her designs into the analogue world of oil paint, Dymock’s joyous new series offers insight into the private domestic setting of her characters’ lives.

Georg Óskar

By bringing his most recent series of works to Miami, Icelandic artist Georg Óskar embraces the universal visual language of mass culture and expressionism by reinterpreting and bringing new forms and narratives into the contemporary framework. The signature of his artistic practice is his use of large canvases to represent sarcastic and witty narratives that coalesce pop culture references, including the cartoon character Mickey Mouse, figures from Icelandic fairy tales, and his visceral observation of the inner world of an individual. Oskar endeavours to highlight the often overlooked moments from everyday life.
