Biography
Born in 1992, Hong Kong, Jade Ching-Yuk NG is a contemporary artist who currently lives and works in London. Jade’s work explores the fragile nature of physical intimacy between herself and others, reflecting on the sensibility of constant touches and separation among us.The artist utilises human experience as the primary subject in her work, blending them with iconic graphical symbolism and a rich palette of contemporary visual languages, situating her portrayal at the chaotic intersection of the tangible world and uncanny simulacrum.

Through the use of overlapping layers of soft colours, elongated lines, and subtle gradients of light and shadow, her compositions possess a simultaneity that juxtaposes different movement occurring within the same temporal frame, creating a dynamic tension among various narrative elements. Ng’s work deeply resonates with the emotional undercurrent of loneliness and emptiness that emerge in the space between inner self and the others. She envisions her creations as an assembly of ‘body puzzles’, where each fragmented element contributes to an expansive exploration of form and meaning.

Drawing inspiration from her personal travelling journey, her work often embodies the complex matrix of mysticism, alchemical traditions, religious rituals, and anatomical studies. By deconstructing the symbolism inherent in these elements, Ng reimagines and detaches the visual elements from their original meanings, reconstructing them into an abstract, ambiguous, and obscure surrealist narrative through her analytical interpretation. After earning her master's degree from the Royal College of Art in 2018, Ng was awarded the Travers Smith Art Award and the British School at Rome Abbey Major Painting Award, among others, and has exhibited in various solo and group exhibitions internationally in Rome, Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Beijing, Hong Kong, and most recently at the Wilder Gallery in London.
